Mornings

Easing into December. Cool, dark, often wet. I'm not much of a winter person, so this is not a good time of the year for me.

But I ride to work most of the time. Early in the morning, two things I really look forward to: 1) Coffee 2) the ride.

This morning was pretty cool (26°F on my little Radio Shack thermometer), but the ride was great. With all my gear, the ride to work is not only no problem, but actually a lot of fun.

Yesterday I drove the van so I could pick up the clothes drier I bought through the complany employee purchase plan. Got the job done and things now get dried properly. But I missed the ride.

There are some side benefits. Significantly lower gasoline expenses and associated "greenness", putting lots of miles on a vehicle that I only paid $2300 for, leaving SUVs and a variety of "fast" boxes in the review on a reguar basis, astonishing people. I am the one and only in the parking lot and on a morning like this the one and only on the road. And not having to scrape the van's windshield.

I think at lunch I'll run over to Lowes and get a bolt to replace the one that fell of of the front fender brace and ricocheted of my leg last week...

There's always somewhere to ride.
